Monday funday?

Ok the term fun normally doesn’t come to mind when thinking of Monday but yesterday actually was Monday Funday since I got to spend another day in Denver with Diana.  She had a Groupon for Marg’s Tacos and y’all know how I feel about Mexican food so game was on!

We were the first table of the day and that was a definitely the way to go since this place gets packed around lunch rush. Diana knows I am all about the guacamole so we started off with an order of chips and guacamole while we decided what to order. The guac was absolutely delicious and creamy. I kept asking her to eat more of it so I wouldn’t be the only noshing on it but she refused and only tried it a few times. So I had to accept Mission eat-the-guacamole all on my own, mission I was happy to accept.

One side of their menu is food and the other side is drinks, be still my heart! The main item on their menu is you guessed it, tacos. However, Marg’s takes it a step further and offer tacos from around the world….literally. They have a Mediterranean taco, Asian, Moroccan, Baja, etc. I love the variation from the normal ho hum pork, steak or chicken tacos you see out there. To add to that, they have the Taco Barco platter which allows you to chose six tacos of your liking along with rice and beans for only $18. We decided to split this since that means we would get to try more and woof it down-fun! I tried the following:

Ninja-Blackened tilapia, red peppers, Carolina slaw blend, & wasabi cucumber drizzle. The flavor in this one was outstanding and I love that they offered this blackened tilapia taco as well as a fried one on the menu.

Mediterranean-Seasoned chicken, tzatziki sauce, slaw blend, feta, & kalamata olives. My favorite since I’m in love with all things Mediterranean!

Caribbean Jerk-Pulled pork, scallions, pineapple habanero salsa & a dash of Kosher salt. Another great one but the pork was very moist so it made the tortilla soggy.

All in all, Marg’s was a nice place to dine at during lunch and I think it would be a great spot for dinner or a date night. I’m looking forward to going back for their word tacos along with all day happy hour specials. Marg’s left us completely satisfied and good thing we weren’t full because look at what was conveniently parked across the street:

BIG FAT CUPCAKE—YES! You may remember the tease from last week with Big Fat Cupcakedriving in front of us for a few miles. This time, it was fate that brought us together and we could get some cupcake loving.

I kind of wanted to ask them if they meant to put a question mark at the end of “Need a cupcake!” but I didn’t want to piss them off and prevent me from getting my sugar high on.

They have about 12 or 13 flavors readily available  and while some looked magical and new to me, I had to go with the Tiffany since you know, the whole namesake thing and all. It’s a vanilla cupcake with Tiffany colored vanilla buttercream frosting with edible sugar pearls. I figure this is the closest I am going to come to getting some Tiffany stuff in my life so why not splurge $3.25?

We held onto our cupcakes until we got back to Diana’s place and it breaks my heart to say, the Tiffany was less than stellar. I was definitely swayed by the name of the cupcake because I never just order a vanilla cupcake-where’s the fun in that? Next time (because there will be a next time), I vow to order something more exciting…..like the Salted Caramel cupcake Diana had. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty-sweet at first then the salt kicks in at the end-it was majestic!

We also snuck in a trip to Goodwill before looking at some apartments and I found some great deals!

J Crew sweater for $4.99. I’ve never owned anything J Crew since a) too plain for me and b) too expensive so I’m happy I found something basic on the cheap.

Gap fleece $4.99, perfect for working out!

I have an eight pound dumbbell at home so it’s perfect I found another one for $1.99

Cross by James Patterson  for $4.99which I’ve read but not so recent that I remember the story so it will be good to listen to on the drive to Colorado and some note cards for only $.49

The sun was shining, it got up to a warm 79 and the fall foliage looked like something out of a movie. Some may say it was a perfect day…….

But not Matilda, poor thing was stuck in my purse all day.
